With Calypso Rose we might have found up the most shining - and to many unknown - pearl the Caribbean has to offer. For over 50 years now, the 77-year-old singer from Trinidad & Tobage has been one of the figureheads of calypso music, a dance genre based on African drums. Along the way, Miss Calypse Rose won the battle against cancer, fought for women’s rights, toured with Bob Marley and was recently put back in the spotlights by Manu Chao. Well-deserved spotlights, we might add. Ready to party alongside a living legend?
