Born in the Bronx and raised in Jamaica, Tarrus Riley grew up with all he needed to take pure roots reggae into the 21st century. And he does so quite brilliantly: his soulful voice, beautiful melodies and edgy political lyrics solidified his spot at the reggae firmament. Smash hits like Good Girl Gone Bad and She’s Royal are the perfect introduction to reggae music: hopeful, danceable and authentic.
